The Journey into Sports Design

Epic Design was founded by Andi Mortenson in 2003 through a pure passion for design and a deep love for sport. Her dream of becoming a sports designer has led her to directing Vancouver Canucks (NHL) photo shoots, rebranding an entire community and more importantly, building a scrappy and agile, woman-owned branding and design team that, in a male-dominated industry, regularly crushes much larger competitors. She was recognized for this success and commitment to giving back to the community as a short-listed 2016 YWCA Woman of Distinction Awards Nominee.

It all started back in early 2004 when Andi was brought up from the juniors, straight into a first line position as a designer for the Vancouver Canucks. In her five years with the Canucks she honed her branding, design and photo shoot direction skills, and learned to apply her designs to everything from apparel and season tickets to Translink bus wraps and the inner walls of GM Place/Rogers Arena.

In 2010, Andi expanded her branding and design team and, shortly after won the contract to provide all branding and design for the Vancouver Giants (WHL) team. Since that time the Epic team has provided branding and design to all levels of professional sports teams and individuals from branding the 2015 Canada Winter Games and city of Prince George to the Edmonton Oilers (NHL), Andrea Neil (Canadian National Soccer Team 1991–2007) and smaller projects with the Washington Stealth, BC Lions and SFU Athletics.
