Vancouver Giants Hockey

2011-2012 Season Look & Feel

The Vancouver Giants are a major junior ice hockey team in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Inaugurated in 2001-2002, the Giants won the Presidents Cup in 2006 and the Memorial cup in 2007. Epic Design began work for the franchise in the 2011-2012 season, bringing their slogan 'Hockey with Heart' to the forefront and developing a new look & feel for the brand.

Cultural Olympiad event collateral

Epic Design worked on contract in-house with the Brand + Creative team on many projects relating to the games, but much of it was for The Cultural Olympiad. The Cultural Olympiad is a series of multidisciplinary festivals and digital programs showcasing the best in Canadian and international arts and popular culture.  Many events required signage, e-vites, posters, and a program or catalogue, and had to fit within the previously established design standards.

Vancouver Canucks

Branding Development

The 2007 logo design itself with the ‘Vancouver’ arch was done by an outside agency, but the supporting graphics and graphic system itself was developed by the in-house creative department, which Andi Mortenson was a part of. This development continues indefinitely with the current creative team members. Epic Design continues to work with the Canucks on a contract basis – the most recent project being the event collateral for the Sports Celebrities Festival in November 2011.

Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition (CODE) Brochure, Catalogue & Poster

CODE Live was an 18-day event that is part of CODE, the Cultural Olympiad’s digital edition. It showcased a diverse range of works fuelled by digital technology and audience interaction. The exhibitions and performances were in 3 well-known sites around Vancouver. Epic design worked on a variety of projects for CODE, including a legacy poster, a 100-page catalogue documenting all events and displays, event & venue signage and a pocket sized accordian-fold brochure outlining the main events.
